Mary Heidbrier, Partner
Mary founded MLJ Insurance Services in 2003. She is an innovative, self-sufficient insurance broker and has built MLJ Insurance Services on the cornerstones of education and knowledge. Mary has been a member of the National Association of Insurance Underwriters (NAHU) since the beginning of her career as a broker, and is known for her up-to-date knowledge about the health insurance industry and the ever changing legislature affecting health insurance. This knowledge has assisted MLJ in providing excellent ongoing counsel and advice to clients in an ever-changing environment.
Mary began her career in the health insurance industry over 13 years ago. As an office manager for a doctor’s office she learned how to understand insurance benefits and claims processing. She was an active member of the Boulder Valley Independent Physicians Association, which gave her much experience working with insurance/doctor networks and contracts.
She then became the Human Resource administrator for a full-service Accountant’s office. There she learned how to administer employer benefits and work within the insurance carrier world, and became well versed in the importance of employee communication and diplomacy. Before long, she was handling all the employee communications and enrollment for new hires and terminated employees.
Antonia Kelly, Health Insurance Specialist
Antonia Kelly joined MLJ Insurance Services in 2012. As MLJ Insurance’s newest member, Antonia, is eager to apply her knowledge of the healthcare industry in order to assist MLJ clients. She is one of the individual sales associates and an integral part of the team.
Antonia began her career in the health industry in 1997. As she assisted various managers with insurance billing, she learned about the challenges of working within the healthcare industry. Not only did this involve understanding health insurance claim processing, but also how health insurance benefits are administered and the relationship of the providers in this process. This training, coupled with explaining benefits to clients, has provided her with a wealth of knowledge and experience. With each new assignment came greater responsibility and, as well, increased knowledge of the health insurance industry.
She is a Colorado licensed broker and a member of National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) and sees the value of continuing education in this ever-changing field.
Karla Rivera, Service Representative
Karla joined MLJ Insurance Services in 2008. She is a dedicated, diligent and customer-focused professional and has brought her experience and knowledge to MLJ Insurance Services to provide attentive and personalized customer service. Karla is responsible of assisting clients (individual and group) with service issues including claims, billing and eligibility. She has become an integral part of MLJ Insurance’s marketing team by understanding our vision and goals. Karla has helped develop and execute marketing strategies through ConstantContact and social media.
Karla began her career in the financial industry over 6 years ago. As a Staff Accountant she served as liaison between management and customers to ensure proper communication and administration of accounts for both corporations and individuals; she learned to implement systems to facilitate the data entry and reporting. Karla then became a Customer Service Representative for a local Property and Casualty Insurance Agency where she learned to coordinate new case installation and she was able to assist in service issues including claims and billing.
She is a Colorado State Licensed Insurance Agent and has been a member of the National Association of Insurance Underwriters (NAHU) since 2011.
